Carnival Australia has received a letter of thanks from Legacy for its support during the national commemoration of the Anzac centenary.
The company marked the 100th anniversary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli with special services onboard Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth in Auckland and Sydney.
A two metre high Poppy Wall in the shape of ‘100’ was the centrepiece of both events, with local residents able to buy a poppy and pin it on the wall. Proceeds of the poppy sales went to Legacy in Sydney and the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services’ Association (RSA) in Auckland.
The Poppy Wall was again at the centre of a special Dawn Service on Queen Elizabeth at Gallipoli on the eve of Anzac Day.
Sydney Legacy President Eric Easterbrook wrote to CEO Ann Sherry to say:
“Sydney Legacy would like to thank you for your generous support during the Centenary of Anzac Period and for assisting Legacy in raising awareness and funds for the cause. The generosity of organisations such as yours and members of the general public has resulted in almost $250,000 being raised for Sydney Legacy. The partnership between Carnival Australia and Legacy is one that we wish to nurture in the future and we look forward to working together again soon.”
