PONANT technical services staff
are currently assessing damage
caused to the line’s Le Boréal
after an onboard fire last week off
the coast of South America.
The ship is docked near Port
Stanley in the Falkand Islands
after passengers were evacuated
and transferred to the nearby L’Austral when the fire broke out
in an engine room compartment.
Nobody was injured in the
incident and all of the affected
passengers have been repatriated
from Port Stanley on flights
chartered by Ponant. L’Austral has now resumed its
cruise to Antarctica.
