WITH Shayne Murray, Chair, Cruise Broome: ACA Conference heads west – We are now on the six-month countdown to welcoming ACA’s annual conference which this year heads to the Gateway of the Kimberley – Broome, WA.
The event will be hosted at the renowned Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa 12-14 Sep with the gala dinner to be held at the iconic Mangrove Hotel overlooking the ocean.
Founded as a pearling port in the 1880s, over 300 luggers were plying the rich local waters by the turn of the century. Today the destination is more focused on welcoming cruise ships with 15 scheduled visits for the 2017/18 season.
Passengers are intrigued by the destination’s varied activities. Along its Indian Ocean coastline, the white sands of 22km-long Cable Beach offer a dramatic backdrop for sunset camel rides. At Gantheaume Point nearby, dinosaur tracks are revealed in the beach’s red rocks during low tide. Broome’s historic Chinatown overlooks Roebuck Bay, and the Port of Broome is the embarkation point for the very popular expedition cruise market along the Kimberley coast through to Wyndham and Darwin. The area also has a rich aboriginal history.
Tourism WA and Cruise Broome are excited to showcase these assets to the conference attendees through some fascinating networking and pre- and post-conference tours. We look forward to making this year’s conference a most memorable one.
