ROYAL Caribbean Cruises is investing nearly $100 million to build a new cruise terminal at the Port of Galveston in Texas.
The terminal, which will enable Royal Caribbean to bring its Oasis-class ships to Galveston, is expected to open in late 2021 and will be the third cruise terminal for the destination.
Located at the port’s southeast section Pier 10, Royal Caribbean will initially lease the terminal land for 20 years, with an option to extend for another 10 years.
The cruise line has two ships which sail out of Galveston: Liberty of the Seas, the largest cruise ship to sail from Texas, and Vision of the Seas.
Just under one million pax will board cruise ships from Galveston in 2018.
