OAKLAND, California is facing a quite serious homelessness problem, and as they are employed to do, a local politician has come up with a unique way of tackling it.
According to CBS, City Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan told a council meeting on Wed that Oakland should consider housing up to 1,000 homeless people on a cruise ship, which would dock at the city’s port – one of the busiest in the country.
Kaplan claims to have been contacted by cruise lines about providing a ship for the emergency housing situation, but it is not yet sure whether such a ship could be docked.
