WITH Jill Abel, CEO Australian Cruise Assocation – Our best shot:
Further to the recent news on
cruise restarts in other parts of the
world, it was great to read that in
Aug, 195 cruise ships representing
65 different brands will operate
with guests onboard.
In addition to the news from
Princess and Dream Cruises I wrote
about recently, Royal Caribbean
has announced a bumper schedule
of cruising from Sep out of both
the east and west coasts of the
United States heading to the
Caribbean, the Bahamas and
Mexico.
Ovation of the Seas is hoping to
be in Australia by mid-Dec.
Great news from Norwegian
too – with Norwegian Gem’s first
departure a few days back, the
line became the first to sail from
Florida with fully vaccinated
passengers and crew.
This continues their restart
plans which already commenced
in Europe and celebrates the first
departure from their new terminal
in Port Miami.
Vaccinations continue to remain
our focus in Australia so we can
mirror this restart we are seeing
overseas.
We strongly support the new
campaigns which have been
launched recently to encourage
Australians to get vaccinated.

Australia’s It’s Our Best Shot to
Travel recognise that the borders
will come down when we reach
80% of the population vaccinated.
Federal Minister for Tourism Dan
Tehan recognised last week “it’s as
tough as it has ever been” but high
vaccination levels will be the key to
more certainty for our industry.
