HAVE you ever found a rubber duck on a cruise ship?
You’re not alone – in fact, you’re among a more than 116,000-strong Cruising Ducks community, which has strict rules for its sport.
The tradition began in 2018 as a gesture by a 10-year-old cruiser, and if you find a duck, the next step is to take a photo of yourself with it.
You should also mention the name of the person who hid it, which can usually be found tagged on the duck, and you might also choose to reach out to thank them if they have provided their contact information.
Other rules dictate you should never put a duck in a pool or a hot tub, due to safety risks, nor should you hide one in a gift shop.
Cruisers should also not place a duck where it might fall overboard, for obvious reasons.
