TASPORTS has awarded a major contract for work to revamp the Port of Devonport to a local Tasmanian firm.
The Devonport East Quaylink project will deliver a new berth, a new wharf structure and reclamation of an area near the existing Berth 3E, which will be specifically designed for the new Spirit of Tasmania Bass Strait vessels.
A joint venture company established by Hazell Bros Group and Brady Marine & Civil will undertake work on the eastern side of the Mersey River, with the Tasmanian Government saying the awarding of the initial contract is a “great milestone for the project and the port”.
