FLEDGLING cruise line Northern Xplorer has chosen international accredited registrar DNV as classification partner for the building of its first zero-emission ship.
DNV will be responsible for newbuilding supervision and classification of the vessel, which is scheduled for delivery by 2026.
The registrar will also engage with flag requirements and technology providers on the enhancement of rules and standards for the safe operation of hydrogen-powered ships, as well as the approval of the ship’s main drawings, hull, and machinery.
