| Orion incident

A small fire occurred in a guest stateroom on board Viking’s Viking Orion while she was docked in Sydney on Fri.

The fire on deck 5 was extinguished within minutes by Orion’s crew, alongside Fire & Rescue NSW, and there was no injuries or hospitalisations, although two passengers were assessed by paramedics.

As a precaution, decks 5 and 6 were evacuated, with the remainder of Orion maintaining normal operations.

Viking is investigating the incident, and early reports indicate the cause of the fire was electrical, possibly from a corded device.

All scheduled operations on board Orion have resumed, and Viking said it does not expect any disruption to the current voyage.
