Members of Carnival Legend’s crew were honoured to be invited to a traditional Chief Enthronement Ceremony during the ship’s call to Lifou, New Caledonia, last Friday.
Staff Captain Rino Costanzo, Guest Services Manager Caroline Bourke and Hotel Director Erik Speekenbrink were among the fortunate invitees who attended the coronation of the island’s new chief. The ceremony is a very rare event – occurring only once every 25-30 years.
It was a day of celebration with dancing and a traditional lunch, hosted by the newly ascended Grand Chief and his leaders.
