HOLLAND America Princess Alaska Tours, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation, has signed a deal to acquire TWC Enterprises Limited’s White Pass & Yukon (WP&YR) Route division in Skagway, Alaska.
The historic railroad links Skagway with Whitehorse, the capital of Yukon, and carries 400,000 passengers a year.
Carnival is also forming a joint venture with Survey Point Holdings, Inc, an Alaskan company based in Ketchikan, that will make Survey Point the managing partner of Skagway, WP&YR and the associated retail operations Carnival is buying from TWC Enterprises.
The partners plan to invest in the port and expand docking facilities to accommodate the new generation cruise ships.
The transaction is scheduled to be finalised 31 Jul.
