Carnival Cruise Line guests have been enjoying a taste of Tasmania and a serving of Italian flair, with award-winning chef Massimo Mele joining Carnival Spirit on two recent cruises to the southern island.
From pizza-making to pasta master classes, Massimo, who was born in Hobart and raised in Naples, has delighted guests with his insights into how to make superb Italian cuisine.
While the pizza classes have been a hit with young guests, many of Carnival Spirit’s Italian officers have also joined in the fun, debating the merits of Massimo’s pizza with Nutella, ricotta and banana compared to traditional pizza toppings.
Meanwhile a small group of guests on the ship’s Australia Day cruise to Tasmania had an added treat, with an exclusive shore tour featuring an Australia Day BBQ in Massimo’s Hobart home with his mother Maria.
Massimo will return to Tasmania on Carnival Legend’s five-night cruise departing Sydney on April 5, 2016 and visiting Port Arthur and Hobart. Fares start from $599* per person twin share. For more information and bookings call 13 31 94, see a travel agent or visit www.carnival.com.au
*Fare valid until March 28, 2016. Subject to availability, conditions apply
