JAPAN has been welcoming record numbers of foreign cruise ship visitors over the past two years thanks largely to an easing of government regulations.
However, with the influx of cruise ships has also seen a surge in the number of foreigners deciding not to make their return trip, instead opting to stay on and work illegally in the Land of the Rising Sun.
In 2018, 106 foreign cruise passengers who got off their ship in Japan never came back, nor have they been recorded leaving the country by any other means.
We know cruise passengers love their immersive land excursion but this is too much.
