NORWEGIAN Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sun made contact with a growler – an iceberg less than two metres across – while transiting to Hubbard Glacier in Alaska on the weekend.
The cruise line said after the incident, Sun sailed to Juneau for further assessment, where it was decided that her present voyage would be shortened.
Sun was then given clearance by the United States Coast Guard and other local maritime authorities to return to Seattle at reduced speed.
All guests currently onboard will disembark in Seattle as originally planned, and Norwegian is communicating with all impacted passengers.
